My back pain was a sign of the blood dresses: Kassidy Ferranti story My back pain was a sign of the blood dresses: Kassidy Ferranti story Five years ago, at the age of 23, I developed dozens of blood clots on both legs, my pelvis and my stomach. Development occurred literally during the night. Two weeks earlier, I was experiencing daily back pain on my lower right side. My OB-GYN threw the pain to ovarian cysts, which had never been a problem before. I visited the emergency room twice in the days before the blood clots appeared, and finally on the second visit to the hospital, I was admitted. After several tests with no apparent results, they decided that they would take out my appendix the next day. That night, at 3:00 in the morning, I woke up with horrible pain. When I tried to move, I couldn't move my legs because they were tough, heavy and swollen. After several minutes of doctors and nurses looking at me, an OB-GYN went for a walk and asked if anyone checked me for blood clots. Fortunately, she was walking and asking that question, and fortunately I still have my appendix! In the following days, I had every test in the book preformed on me. They found dozens of blood clots, so many that they couldn't give me a number of how many were in my body. I spent days in the ICU having both legs injected with clot wrecking medications. After a week in the hospital, I was ready to go home. How did this happen? I ask that question every day. I've heard several responses from several different doctors. It might be that I have one, that I was a few years before my blood clots, and/or that my inferior vena cava is completely blocked, either by a blood clot or by a birth defect. Nobody knows for sure. The reason I'm sharing my story now is because I'm 29, and I've been with my husband for almost 10 years. I desperately want to start a family. I'm sure this story has been heard before, but I can have a baby. My body can do everything it needs to have a baby. The problem is I've been told different things by different doctors. Some doctors are completely optimistic, which is of course what I want to hear. On the other hand, there have been some doctors on the road who think they will severely interfere with my hormones and create more blood clots. As my clots passed so fast and without much warning last time, it could be fatal for me to have more blood clots. So what do I do? I've never met anyone who has had a combination of issues that are close to mine. I hope that by sharing my story, I can connect with people who have success stories of starting families. However, I hope that women will be aware of these problems and do not take certain symptoms lightly. The back pain was never a symptom I read about, but I had the worst back pain of my life. I hope my story can shed some light on that as possible. In addition, question your doctors and do not let them perform unnecessary surgery to remove an organ. If my blood clots had waited one more day to lift their ugly heads, I would lose my appendix right now. Article Contents Oral contraceptives and back pain in women in a Swedish community. CiteU Wreje, D Isacsson, H Aberg, Oral contraceptives and back pain in women in a Swedish community., International Journal of Epidemiology, Volume 26, Issue 1, Feb 1997, Pages 71–74, SummaryBACKGROUND: Female back pain is a clinic problem-especially low back pain with sintomas from the pelvic posterior region-that is often agbithgravated in child. Hormones have been suggested as an aetiological factor. This study is intended to determine whether additional hormonal preparations, i.e. oral contraceptives (or oral contraceptives), can help increase the frequency of this pain. METHODS: A registry study was conducted to investigate the use of drugs and the use of medical care in a female population with known OOC consumption. Specifically, we recorded the number of primary health care visits for low back pain, comparing OC users to non-OC women who use older women with other circumstances equal. RESULTS: OC users recorded a significantly higher incidence of low-back symptoms during the study period compared to non-users. Pregnancy was not found as a confusing factor. CONCLUSIONS: The intriguing association between the use of OC and a higher incidence of low back pain does not allow us to conclude that there is a causal connection, but it must lead to new studies.
